No pet stores, thank you.

I have officially decided I don't like pet stores.
As I walked into Scamp's last night, all the little baby dogs struck me as lonely, sad and not being able to just be puppies.
Never before has it bothered me so, but especially in such a trying economy, it doesn't seem right that the cages were all full. It made me wonder, how long do the puppies live in those cages before someone decides to take them home?
Don't even get me started on puppy mills.
My vote is for buying a purebred dog from a reputable breeder (go SEE their facilities), getting a pound puppy or getting a puppy from the Prison Dog Project.
Just say no to pet stores.

Lisa, I didn't know you have a blog! I'm adding you :) And I agree 100% about pet stores. Did you hear about how, at PetSmart, they found out that hundreds of their dogs were living in cramped and filthy conditions in the back? While I wish that everyone would ignore these types of stores and purchase from breeders, as you mentioned, I feel conflicted because I also want to buy ALL of them just to get them out of there!

Graham and I went to PetSmart to get Mr.B some treats and we stopped to look at the cats, and it was just a sad affair. They're all so old :( You know that nobody wants to buy some poor little old kitty. 'Cept me!
