What a lovely day! Carpets were cleaned, blogs were written, the prospect of baking some apple banana bread keeps running through my head and there's a real possibility it will become a reality.
Last night while I was moving furniture in preparation for the carpet cleaning, Macy was being so weird. She kept moving from area to area of the living room and just posing, as though she was really wanting a photo shoot. Who am I to deny her an experience that brings her joy?
One thing that's had me in stitches lately is Rachel Feinstein. She is a Jewish comedian from NYC and she's amazing.
Note: does anyone else notice how almost all hugely successful people are Jewish? Try reading the credits of any movie and you'll see a list that includes nearly every Jewish surname ever heard of. They have conquered the movie, music, jewelry industry and the list goes on. Let's hear it for the Chosen People!)
This one is hilarious as Rachel goes on and on about her mother (what fun!) and I gotta tell ya', the woman sounds like a hoot.

This one might be my favorite. So much so, that lately when Chris asks me a question, I respond with the jarring voice Rachel uses when she says "ABSOLUTELY not." It's been a fun little addition to our life, for sure. Also noteworthy: the "forward jazzy lunge". Peeing. My. Pants.

This one I just found yesterday and was watching it during work at lunch. I nearly had to stop because I knew if I didn't, I wasn't going to be able to pull it together enough to not laugh out loud in the quiet office. "Fold it in half?" "Calming smear?" "Fondle and have oatmeal?" "Erections are agressive?" OMG.

I received a new book in the mail that I'm stoked about. See, last year during the heyday of my marriage nearly falling apart and my own co-dependent insanity, I threw myself into The Sopranos. As usual, the series caught on for me much later than the rest of the world (like my "new" infatuation with The Office). Needless to say, I started the series from the beginning last year and watched it front to back until I had finished the entire six series. There's over 80 one hour episodes and it didn't take me very long to plow through them all, so that's a pretty good indication of my isolation during that time. Fast forward to this year, when I moved into my new place, and I got HBO complimentary from Comcast when I signed up for service. Guess what? HBO was showing The Sopranos On Demand, which means that each month they'd release about 7 new episodes. The final 7 episodes were released by Comcast in April, so I have now officially watched the entire series... twice. Ok, that's a lie because there were a couple episodes I watched more than twice. (Hey, it's a great show to have on "in the background" while cleaning house or making dinner.) I was actually a little sad when I made it to the last episode this time. What ever will I do now??
Get this: there's a book. It's called The Psychology of The Sopranos. * Be still, my heart.* It's really not that unbelievable; I found The Sopranos to be the most well thought out series with a rich plot and excellent character development. Besides being about the Mob, it is even more about the Human Condition. So, I received this book in the mail yesterday and can't wait to jump right in. I'll definitely keep everyone posted.

Finally, I am continually intrigued by the thought that goes into costume design for movies and certain series (such as above). For example, I found this great article that delves into the thought behind the wardrobe created for Sharon Stone in Casino. At first glance, the outfits Ginger wears are true to the time period, nothing more. However, upon closer inspection, one sees that the clothing is highly symbolic, like most wardrobe selections in any Martin Scorsese film. A few of my favorites are pictured below, but check out the article for a closer look. I am out of time now, but I'll try to remember to post some of what I found for The Sopranos wardrobe. Fabulous, very well thought out and the motive to develop the characters even further than script and physical attributes is obvious.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone!
PS- I'm seriously considering having a Pampered Chef Party, but I'm afraid I'll put people in that awkward position where they feel obligated to come. You know what? On second thought, I don't care. Serves everyone right for making me go to Passion Parties, Party Lite, Scentsy, purse parties and the list goes on. I'm always guilted into going. I hope everyone feels terribly awkward, is obligated to come and spends a ton of money. Seems fair.
